PUSSYCAT

Sonja Donnelly paints with pure areas of color achieving an almost pop art look. She classifies herself as an American Expressionist painter. I am not sure I agree with this classification, but I love her paintings.

Jeanne the Artists Muse

A tragic love....This portrait is of Jeanne Hebuterne. She was the wife and muse of the artist Amedeo Modigliani, who painted in Paris at the begininging of the 20th century. Modigliani dies at the age of 35. Jeanne then commits suicide by jumping out of a fifth floor window killing both her and her unborn child.

Venus of Willendorf

This small sculpture of a robust female figure is from the Paleolithic era. Ancient artists created many such statuettes. It amazes me to think that this is so old. She is thought to be a a symbol of fertility.
