"And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone around about them; and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, "Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. " Luke 2:10-12Thursday, December 25, 2008

"It is important in my work that I paint intuitively, with no models or photographs to influence the spontaneity of my inner perceptions as they emerge." Sandra Bierman http://www.sandrabierman.com/Thursday, October 16, 2008

Chess On a Checkerboard
"My work is representational. It is metaphoric. I do not attempt to copy reality, but rather to ‘recreate’ it. I have no interest in sentiment, politics, hidden messages, or illustration in my painting. The painting tells me what to do. It is not the other way around, and it is only about ITSELF. It is only about painting, nothing more." JONI SCULLY (2008) www.joniscullypaintings.com/Sunday, September 21, 2008
Kinky
Suzanne Rachel Forbes is an artist who paints a world of BDSM and other fetishes. I find myself drawn to her work in an almost secret fantasy way...... depite the risque sub-cultural subject matter.Thursday, September 4, 2008
edgy and naughty......but nice
Bert Maurits is an artist who's work I find interesting. Sometimes it borders on nasty because of its men's magazine sexual image reference, then at other times it is sensual and alluring as in this example. This is really an intriguing artist. His website is very informative and full of great examples of his pictures.Thursday, August 7, 2008
romantic and free
Some interesting and wonderful art by Joshua Petker. I love the free brushwork and fresh style. He is often considered an edgy street - graffiti-ish artist by the juxtapoz crowd, but I disagree. His girls are sweet and romantic. Check out more at www.joshuapetker.comFriday, July 18, 2008

This guy paints awesome pictures. The only thing is, his subjects are all kinda weird people....dark and tattooed.....I hate tattoos....but his paintings are fabulous! This is one example that is less gothic in nature. Check out his work though you wont be sorry. http://www.seancheetham.com/Tuesday, July 1, 2008

Wendy and Frida
Wendy Ryan calls her paintings "Folk Art". I don't agree. They are way better than that! She has a collection of paintings of Frida Kahlo that are adorable. http://www.wendyryanfolkart.comMonday, May 12, 2008

Raphael Soyer
Raphael Soyer was a great master artist in the 20th Century. (1899 - November 4, 1987) He lived and worked in New York city and was considered a Social Realist because of his interest in people viewed in contemporary settings. There is not alot of information out there on this guy, and online photos of his works are rare. Hopefully a book of his life works will be published someday soon. I know that I would buy it!Wednesday, April 30, 2008

PUSSYCAT
Sonja Donnelly paints with pure areas of color achieving an almost pop art look. She classifies herself as an American Expressionist painter. I am not sure I agree with this classification, but I love her paintings.

Matisse (my all time favorite)
I thought that I would begin my posts with a couple of paintings by my all time favorite artist, Henri Matisse.
Look at this wonderful painting. This woman is wearing cute house shoes. Probably because the tile floor is cold. I also like the way that Matisse left the girls face blank. The color and simple drawing is beautiful.
One more, this time a simple black and white:
